1. Introduction

Thank you for using ObjectTag. ObjectTag is provided free of charge and helps users collect, annotate, review, and export image datasets for object detection.

ObjectTag does not require you to create a user account.

By using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

3. Data We Collect

We may collect and process the following data:

• Email address – used to send you a download link for your exported dataset.
• Dataset and image data – images, labels, annotations, bounding boxes, metadata, and exported dataset files that you submit or create through the app.
• Technical data – limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, debug, and maintain the app, such as app version, device information, error logs, and server logs.
• Messaging data – information required to send messages or download links, which may include your email address and message delivery information.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

• To provide the app’s core functionality.
• To process, store, convert, review, and export your datasets.
• To create exported dataset files in common object detection formats, such as YOLO and COCO.
• To generate a temporary download link for your exported dataset.
• To send the download link to the email address you provide.
• To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the app.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Where the GDPR applies, we process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases:

• Your consent, for example when you provide your email address to receive a download link.
• Performance of a service requested by you, for example when processing and exporting datasets submitted through the app.
• Legitimate interests, for example for app security, debugging, abuse prevention, and service improvement.
• Legal obligations, where we are required to retain or process certain information by law.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

6. Dataset Storage and Download Links

Uploaded and exported datasets may be stored using DigitalOcean Spaces, an S3-compatible object storage service provided by DigitalOcean.

When you export a dataset, the app may create a temporary, presigned download link that allows access to the exported dataset file. This link is sent to the email address you provide.

A presigned link may allow anyone who has access to the link to download the dataset while the link is valid. You are responsible for keeping the link confidential and for not sharing it with unauthorized persons.

Dataset files and download links are intended only for the user who created or requested the export.

7. Data Storage and Hosting

Your data is stored on servers and object storage infrastructure provided by DigitalOcean, with storage located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where applicable.

DigitalOcean acts as a hosting and infrastructure provider. We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.

8. Use of OneSignal

We use OneSignal to send email messages and download links requested through the app.

Depending on how you use the app, OneSignal may process information such as your email address, message delivery status, and related technical data. OneSignal processes this data according to its own privacy policy and applicable data processing terms.

9. Dataset and Image Responsibility

You are responsible for the images, labels, annotations, and datasets you upload, create, process, export, or download through the app.

You must ensure that you have all necessary rights, permissions, and legal grounds to upload, process, annotate, export, and download any image or dataset data submitted through the app.

You must not upload unlawful content or personal data of others unless you have the required permission or legal basis to do so.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the app’s functionality, deliver requested download links, maintain security, or comply with legal obligations.

Uploaded images, annotations, exported datasets, and generated download files are stored for up to 7 days after export and are then automatically deleted, unless earlier deletion is requested or we are legally required to retain certain information.

Presigned download links may expire before the underlying dataset file is deleted. After deletion, the dataset can no longer be downloaded through the link.

11. Your Rights

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Request restriction of processing.
• Object to certain types of processing.
• Request data portability.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

However, no method of transmission, storage, or download link delivery is completely secure. In particular, presigned download links should be treated as confidential, because anyone with access to such a link may be able to access the exported dataset while the link is valid.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service and Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be made available in the app or on our website.

Continued use of the app after changes become effective means that you accept the updated terms.
